THE SIMPLE STEPS

Pour Bottom Beer

Pour the heavier bottom beer into the glass to roughly half way. Generally, if the bottom beer has a 5.5% or higher ABV, it should layer well with Guinness.

Place Tool on Glass

The tool fits most beer glasses. It can be set on glasses with a rim diameter between 70mm and 92mm.

If the glass rim is smaller or larger, the tool can be held over the glass when pouring the top layer beer.

Pour the Top Layer

The lighter, top layer beer is poured onto the center of the bar tool’s dome, flows through the holes and gently pours onto the lower layer beer.

Enjoy Your Creation

Remove the tool from the glass and enjoy your layered beer cocktail.

Creating layered beer drinks is all about liquid density and gentle pouring. A lighter beer will float on top of a heavier one (like oil floating on water). But unlike oil and water, because the basic makeup of beers is the same and their densities are close, the beers will not separate after being mixed.

So, the trick is to not mix them in the first place! For a great layered beer, the top layer must be gently poured on top of the bottom heavier beer to reduce the mixing and allow the beer layers to remain separate.
